Last year I saw a book of photography of homeless individuals. Finding Grace. It is one of the most spectacular books I’ve ever seen and sales go to a good cause. Combating homelessness.
A couple weeks ago we were on vacation and I was taking pictures of my kids. One shot that I took was of my five year old (I have to think of something new to call her…she used to be the four year old I talked about on here). Sometimes she just doesn’t want to be photographed. This was one of those times.
She ran to hide behind a dirty garbage can. I just now looked at the image and the Finding Grace book popped into my head. All it would take is a few filters in Photoshop and her image would fit right in that book. Almost. I do have to say that her current fashion sense helped.
Here’s what the photo started as:

Then I went to this:

And then some fancy footwork and ended on this:
The filters I used were discovered by reading the Pioneer Woman blog where she describes her gorgeous photography and some photoshop stuff. Who woulda thunk? I had to go to the country to get some nifty tech info. Now, if only I had more time. I probably shouldn’t be spending my time doing this much playing as it is!
Sure would be nice if my shadow wasn’t in there, wouldn’t it? I guess I could crop it out.
